Rolly is a gadget just as amazing as it is multifaceted. Rolly, shaped like an egg, is actually a little robot who plays music, while it dances to the rhythm of it.

As soon as Rolly hears music, two rings on the sides starts spinning and flashing in different colors, while two small arms covering the speakers waves, all to the rhythm of the music.

Rolly is able to play music from your computer or wirelessly from a Bluetooth device, such as your cell phone or pocket pc. It has an internal memory of 2GB, which gives your MP3s plenty of room, and the internal battery provides you with up to 4 hours of music and motion.

The Rolly comes with, Rolly Choreographer software, which analyzes the rhythm of your music and creates suitable motions for it, as you load it. In addition, you can also create your own motions as well, which you can share with other Rolly users over the net. You could also download other users’ motions as well. The software is compatible with Windows XP, the 32-bit version of Vista and Media Center Edition 2004&2005, with SP2.

The quality of the sound that Rolly delivers through its soft dome speakers with neodymium magnet is not ok. With a price tag close to $400, you should receive better quality. My guess is that Sony put the software and the motions in first place, leaving the sound in the second room.

However, I must say that Rolly is certainly a fun little gadget to discover and I bet it must be fascinating to see it dancing around on my desk. However, Rolly is a typical product that is fun for a while, but will weary of after a while and with a price tag close to $400; I cannot see how this charming little robot will make its way to my desk.
